This skull is half transparent and half bony. The right, transparent half of the skull shows important anatomical details, such as the location of the paranasal sinuses. The transparent part of the mandible shows the periodontal pockets and roots.
The teeth from the skull are removable for detailed studies. In addition, the external masticator muscles are represented on the bony half of the skull. The mandible is articulated to allow demonstration of masticator movement. These features make the skull especially useful for dentists.
The skull can be disassembled into both halves of the calvarium and base, the nasal septum, the complete mandible and both masticator muscles.
